5 Things to Consider Before Installing Solar Panels

The use of solar panels has become beneficial today for many US homeowners. The greatest beneficiaries appear to be those living in the sun-kissed states of Florida, California and Arizona thouh many others such as Utah and Texas are in hot pursuit. Other than it has become an effective solution to save from utility bills, it is also environmental friendly. In recent reports, electricity that is being generated by huge power plants produces more carbon dioxide emissions imposing serious threats in human health and to the planet as well. According to Richard Gaves of Solar Panels Orange County, a California based installer of panels for residential and commercial applications there has never been a better time to invest in solar energy. He recently stated “the time to go Solar is now, with the Federal government pulling back tax breaks from 2016 anyone who delays will have to fund their installation themselves rather than have most or all of the money back in the form of tax credits”.

So how do solar panels work?

Solar panels are composed of various solar cells. Each cell utilizes light or solar energy to produce electricity. These panels usually feature two layers working in the cell. The first one builds up with electros to gather light and send them to the next layer producing energy.

Before installing solar panels to your home or any infrastructure, consider these factors to make it more effective and efficient:

  1. Assessing the system location

The first thing you need to do is to determine the perfect spot where you can install the “mother” panel. Experts recommend choosing the best areas where there is more sunlight exposure. So make sure to keep them out of the shade. Again, solar panels require sun exposure to produce more energy.

  1. Evaluating the roof’s specifications

Make sure the device you are getting is compatible to your roof. It should provide enough stability to support the panels and other heavy objects. The good thing about most suppliers is they can inspect your house to see if your roof is good enough for the solar panels.

  1. Setting your budget

By now you should know how much you’re willing to spend for this new home addition. Make sure to allocate your budget for the device, installation and maintenance of your solar panels. Always consider the quality of the products you’re getting. Do your research and maximize your options. Ask for initial quotation and compare the rates they offer from other suppliers. Check the payment scheme as well and choose the best one that suits your budget and requirements.

  1. Knowing the size and capacity of the solar power system

Another thing you should be aware of is that the household energy consumption varies depending on the size of the power system. Of course, the larger the system, the more costly it is. This is why you should know what you need before buying a new device.

  1. Getting familiar with daylight hours and seasonality

Everyone knows the obvious limitation of this device. Of course, it doesn’t function at night and on cloudy days. While you cannot rely on solar energy all the time, it still allows you to save on energy bills. Just manage your energy consumption every time your solar panel is deactivated.

Proper maintenance is also important if you want your solar power system to be more efficient and last longer. Always consult a professional to make sure you are installing the right system for your home.
